About Our Pastor & First Lady Pastor

Joshua Kevin and Elder Terri White grew up in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. By the grace of God, they were delivered from ungodly lifestyles.  They received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior in the early eighties and joined Parkway Baptist Church, now Church of the Great Commission (CGC), and thereafter received the call to full-time ministry. The White’s were married in 1986 and the Lord blessed them with one son, Daryl.

Yielding to the voice of God, the White’s took a huge leap of faith in 1988 by leaving their electronics careers and joining the ministerial staff at CGC with no salary.  With God as their first priority and only source, they endured hardships and rejection but they pressed on by faith and dared to believe God regardless of their circumstances.  In 1990, Pastor White became Pastor-at-Large and in 1991, Elder Terri was ordained as a minister.  On September 24, 2000, Pastor White was installed as Senior Pastor, after years of sacrifice and faithful service in the ministry.  In 2001, Elder Terri, who served alongside her husband, was ordained as an Elder.  She is a woman of genuine character, who currently serves as CGC’s Women’s Ministry Moderator, in addition to other positions in the ministry.

The White’s leadership style is fun-loving, transparent, and relationship oriented.  While some relationships offered twists and turns (some abrupt, some gradual, and some unexpected), they all pointed them in a new direction, which resulted in a deeper commitment to their spiritual calling.  They have a passion for their relationship with God, themselves and others.  For more than twenty years, they have helped people grow, and develop life skills so that they may move forward and perpetuate healing through God’s Word.  Being faithful over a few things, the White’s have been hand-picked and spiritually tested to become rulers over much.  They are ripe for the task of winning the lost, equipping the saints, and going into into the world to make a difference for eternity.

Their unique preaching and teaching styles provide a wealth of diversity that is challenging, relevant and effective.   By God’s grace, they are determined to make CGC a safe place where relationships can flourish in an atmosphere of love, hope, and trust.  Under their leadership, the CGC family is experiencing new dimensions as they are being transformed into the image of Christ.

Their destination is predetermined, their arrival time is a mystery and their road ahead may be rough.  However, like Abraham, they are standing on a Word from God, and as a result of their labor and faithfulness, they will reap a bountiful harvest.
