Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told his disciples, to go and make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of the Great Commission is, “teaching them to obey”.  Church of the Great Commission (CGC) has a global focus at home and aboard, and it begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. CGC members are involved in a variety of foreign mission opportunities as well as local ministry services.

Evangelism and Mission Ministry

Church of the Great Commission is pleased to be part of spreading God’s Kingdom message.  Our leaders and members  travel locally and internationally to assist in outreach projects and evangelistic endeavors. We encourage people to respond to God’s call, whether it’s to move to a foreign land or minister in their own community.

Music Ministry

God-honoring worship is something we strive for.  Many members get involved in our music ministry.  Some play instruments, some are soloists and others are involved in praise and worship.  These musicians and psalmist are a strategic part of the ministry and serve diligently using their talents and abilities to glorify God.

The ushers fulfill a vital role. They are the doorkeepers in the house of the Lord, official representatives when entering the sanctuary.  They greet people entering the service, seat attendees, help visitors, collect the tithes and offerings, distribute weekly information and assist in ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free.

Media and Technology

We cannot expect that a one hour service each week will fill people’s spiritual tanks. Disciples need more than a weekly service.  Discipleship means being in people’s lives beyond Sundays, Wednesdays or special events. Our media ministry allows us the privilege to encourage congregants in their faith each day.  Not only can we disciple those in our church, but we can also reach and impact others with what is preached or taught.

Marriage Counseling

Marriages can be difficult to navigate!  Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any marriage. Specific couples at CGC serve as family and marriage counselors. Their role in listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging struggling couples has, by God’s grace, saved many marriages, and transformed relationships. Couples have found a renewed hope, a restored joy, and victory in a warm fulfilling covenant with their spouse.

Youth and Children’s Ministry

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”.

The Youth and Children’s Ministry of CGC is to help equip the next generation of leaders that are in our care to know God and grow to become like His Son, Jesus Christ. To accomplish our purpose we seek to fill young minds with the Word of God so they will grow to think the way God thinks and live the way God lives.  We seek to establish habits of godly living as a daily lifestyle; to create a Christian community of young people that practice life long values and morals that are formed in their early years. And, to help build proper relationships to authorities, help them trust Christ as Savior, submit to Him, live as Christians at home, at school, at play or wherever they are and turn their hearts toward the ONLY person that can supply all their needs. Philippians 4:19

In order to give our youth and children the best biblical teachings possible, CGC holds Youth and Children’s services in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives them an opportunity for interaction and learning in a  manner suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly volunteers, have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, games, and object lessons.
